Sleep Travelers

Book 1 : The Story of Ning Dog & Boss

Ning and Dog meet over a shared meal of Salmon. Ning is dubious of a huge dog and a little girl going on adventures alone together. Ning and her friend Boss eagerly accept Dog’s invitation to stay with him in his digs for one night! The minute they settle down for the night, Little Dawnie arrives in her footie pajamas to invite them all to the Zoo! They “think” Zoo and voila, they are there! They meet Harold Hippo, Ella Elephant, Orchid Orca, Tigger Tiger, Blackie Bear, and Beauty Panther! They are overjoyed to make new friends! Daddy Shirl arrives wearing a Park Ranger uniform in time to cook food until everyone is stuffed, then the messy food fight gets mustard and ketchup all over everyone and everything! They think “clean” and the problem is solved! Their first adventure ends with yawns and goodbyes, but they can’t wait for the next one.

Book 2: The Amusement Park

Little Dawnie arrives at Dog’s Digs, bubbling  with excitement as she shares with her friends the thrilling story her Daddy read about an Amusement Park. They all “imagine” the “Amusement Park,” and with the magic of their imagination, they are suddenly there! Laughing on the Ferris Wheel, little Dawnie excitedly points out where she will be going to school, and everyone is sad thinking she will forget them. But she firmly reassures, “I promise I will never forget you!” And she didn’t! Or this story would never have been written! Dog and Dawnie race a unicorn against a horse on the Merry-go-round, and all the other rides! Daddy Shirl took them to the Big Top Show, thrilling them when he arranged for them to meet the Tigers in person, and they were even invited for a ride! They escape the Fun House, and it is time to go home. Little Dawnie and her friends are ready for the next adventure.

Book 3: Dude Ranch

As soon as Little Dawnie’s eyes close, she wakes up next to her friend Dog. Poking him awake, saying, “Wake up! We are going to a special place called a Dude Ranch. It’s like a farm where guests can ride horses and experience life on the prairie for a night!” They thought “Dude Ranch in Yucca, Arizona,” and opening their eyes, they saw horses and smelled the scent of animals. Ning was less excited to see the dirt, but she thought, “I will think clean many times.” After a hearty Cowboy Dinner, they were treated to a lively performance by the Cowboys, with the Spin-offs adding to the fun. Little Dawnie was overjoyed to hear Cowboy Daddy Shirl’s rendition of “My Funny Valentine” with the lead singer, Dawnzella.  Little Dawnie was pleased that Dawnzella sat with them and talked to Boss like she knew him. Dawnzella invited Little Dawnie to share her sleeping bag. Little Dawnie noticed Dawnzella’s eyes looked like hers and her Mommie’s. Dawnzella said, “Someday you will understand how your mommy, Cowboy Daddy  Shirl, and I know each other.

Book 4: Train ride

Little Dawnie loved that Sleep-Traveling trip so much that next time, she took her baby brother on a train ride across the country to the Grand Canyon, and California! Again, her friends were concerned with how they could care for the baby, but Little Dawnie knew Little Chris would love it, and he did!
