I’d love to hear from you.
Hi, my name is Brenda Colbath
I love creating strange new worlds, characters, and wielding power like a madwoman! When my characters are happy, I am happy and laugh with them. When they are sad, or a favorite character has to die, I have been known to shed a few tears. When they have no redeeming qualities, at all, I am angry with them. Occasionally I find myself laughing out loud when they do something outrageous, which is entirely possible because they were born from my creative imagination.
I am a left-handed Gemini, so what did you expect?
I graduated from the School of Hard Knocks at the top of my class. One of my teachers accidentally became the catalyst of inspiration for me to write! He required 5 handwritten pages of “Random Notes” submitted every Friday, and I loved to tantalize him with ‘to be continued’ stories stretching them out for several weeks. He was one of the people that told me to “do something about your writing.”
A few years ago, I was puzzling about what to send to two young friends in Seattle for Christmas. They were outgrowing Barbie and G.I. Joe things. My husband and I met them when we parked our Motor Home in their yard for a couple of weeks when visiting our Daughter, who was friends with their parents. In a brilliant flash of inspiration, I wrote a short story with the whole family as the main characters. They loved them so much they gave me permission to publish the story, which has been followed by a series of 6 Young Adult books, called “Ruby and Nolan’s Great Adventures in Space.”
I am not a one-trick pony, in addition to the Young Adult series, I also have self-published:
Murder on Lake Haverly, a Maye West Mysteries series.
The End of the Road
Spirited One
Immortal Enemies
Sleep Travelers; series of 2 Children’s books, The story of Ning, Dog, and Boss, and Amusement Park
I have a total of 12 books on Amazon and are working on the 13th, which is a sequel to Murder on Lake Haverly, called Options.
I hope you enjoyed meandering through my history, and when you read my books, please let me know your thoughts. If you enjoyed reading them, why not go to Amazon.com and leave me a review? It’s easy, not like the terrifying school book reports just tell a friend what you liked about them. Thank you
Our Daughter is the first person to purchase a book and leave a review. I’m not sure how she does this, but she says she reads the sexy stuff with her eyes closed. She forgave me for making her a boy Dragon. Our Son and Grandchild have been characters in one of my books. My hubby is a character in the children’s series as Ranger Shirl and Daddy Shirl. We have been business and life partners for 58 years, and he catches timeline mistakes and suggests plot scenarios.
